Description

A three-part mixed-media course combining drawing and collage.

Discover the creative possibilities of combining drawing and collage in this engaging mixed-media class. Students will explore composition, line, value, texture, and visual storytelling through layered image-making processes. Students will work with drawing materials alongside found papers, photographs, and ephemera to cut, layer, assemble, and transform imagery. Through instructor demonstrations and individualized guidance, students will develop dynamic compositions that balance structure, intuition, and exploration. 
 
This is an opportunity to bring your own collage materials, including found papers, photographs, printed images, and other collected imagery. Students are also encouraged to bring drawing materials such as graphite, charcoal, ink, colored pencil, and markers to incorporate into their work. 
 
What You Will Learn:

• Approaches to combining drawing and collage into unified compositions
• Techniques for layering, cutting, and assembling found imagery
• Observational and expressive drawing strategies to support collage-based work
• Ways to build texture, depth, and visual narrative through mixed media
• Methods for editing, recombining, and transforming images 

 
Who This Class Is For: 
Students with some drawing and/or collage experience who are interested in expanding their practice through mixed-media exploration. This class is ideal for those who enjoy working independently with their chosen materials and are seeking individualized feedback, instructor demonstrations, and thoughtful dialogue to support their creative process.
